I also remember participating to a world’s post day many years ago, when I was in middle school. Back then letters were a bit more frequent than they were today, but you still wouldn’t receive many per week. Anyway, we celebrated by writing fictional letters and sending them to one another, randomly. Also, we had a long discussion with our teachers about the importance of post and whether or not we could do without it. The answer was no, we couldn’t. I know post seems a bit useless today, but if you actually think about it – we still couldn’t live without it so easily.
Yes Ashley, we could not do without it. Our post officers delivers packages instead from internetshops. And hve their hands full with that as well…. some even use deones ro dleiver packages in areas that are difficult to access by road…
iI wonder what post will look like in the years to come
First horses, then carriages and ships, and now trains, cars and airplanes…
There will always be something to deliver.
Thank you
Post is actually very important, even though it doesn’t seem like. Most of use stopped using it and some never had the occasion to (kids under 20 especially). But I’m so happy to hear there’s an official post day – it’s really worth that. I never had the chance to celebrate it or find out more about it, but luckily I came across your article. Now it’s a bit late but next year I will try to get involved in this world’s post day, together with my friends and family.
The post still brings so much happiness and joy. And many post offices do not take the time to celebrate either…
Living abroad for years, letters where the only communication available, and phone lines almost inexistent. Sometimes we had to wait for weeks, even months before a package arrived. So, yeah the poet was something to look forward to.
Today social media have replaced the exitement and packages
Thank you Ashley
